The Brazosport Area Alumnae Chapter (BAAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was
chartered on April 14, 2002 at the Brazoswood High School Ninth Grade Center in Clute, Texas, becoming the 947th chapter of the sorority.

The Southwest Regional Director, Dr. Marvette Thomas and Texas/New Mexico State
Coordinator, Mae Frances Rowlett presided over the chartering. The officers elected were LoisDavis /President, Monica Iles /Vice President, Dorothy Thomas/Corresponding/Recording Secretary, Cecilia Jasper/Treasurer Sonseeahrae Prentis/Financial Secretary and Willane Charles /Sargent-At-Arms.
The five-point programmatic thrusts established by Grand Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta
Sorority, Inc. are: Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, Political Awareness and Involvement. BAAC has implemented many activities addressing the five-point programmatic thrusts in the Clute, Angleton, Freeport, Lake Jackson, and Richwood areas. These programs have ranged from addressing theneeds of our youth, economically disadvantaged families, families in crisis, personal financial management, healthy lifestyle, breast cancer awareness, social action many other volunteer efforts. As a part of a great Sorority, Brazosport Area Alumnae Chapter endeavors to continue making a difference in local communities throughout the world.
